A home away from home

Aboriginal Patients Lodge

The Aboriginal Patients Lodge provides a place to heal – a home away from home for First Nations people facing medical illness who have come to Vancouver for treatment.

Coping with illness can be stressful, never mind living in unfamiliar and sometimes vastly different surroundings. Lu’ma Native Housing Society partnered with BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre to create this housing project, which was partially funded by Vancouver Foundation.

With eight furnished units with kitchens, the Lodge allows patients to face their illness with dignity, surrounded by the comfort of friends and family and an understanding community.
